Introduction To Bunk Beds

A bunk bed is a type of bed that utilizes vertical space to solve living needs. It consists of upper and lower bunks and is commonly made of steel, steel-wood, or wood. Its dimensions are typically 2000mm*900mm*1700mm. Functionally, they can be divided into children's, student, and concealed types. Concealed bunk beds achieve their transformation from bed to furniture through a folding structure.

Student beds often use 38*38 square tubing uprights and carbon dioxide shielded welding. In recent years, American-style staggered bunk beds have gained attention due to their three-dimensional spatial layout and multi-functional area design. The EU released EN 747-1:2024 and EN 747-2:2024 standards in 2024, adding requirements for safety rails, passageways, and testing methods, applicable to products with a bed base height ≥600mm. A provincial-level supervision and spot check in China in 2023 showed that the failure rate of household bunk beds reached 80%, with the main problems concentrated on the distance of safety rails, mattress marking lines, and missing user guides.

In terms of industrial design, the staggered structure supports the addition or removal of modular components and can be combined with storage compartments, ladder-type components and desk components, with some parts integrating wireless charging and ambient lighting strips.
