How To Pack Up A Tent in The Wild

When packing up the tent, lower the tent door, close the vents, remove the tent pegs and guy lines, and store the tent pegs securely. Next, disassemble the outer tent, lay it flat and fold it. Fold the bottom tent into thirds, like folding a blanket; the width after folding should be slightly shorter than the packing bag. Fold the inner tent to a similar width, then lay it flat and fold it again, placing the tent pegs and tent poles on top of the inner tent. Finally, roll up the pack, in the following order: inner tent, outer tent, tent poles, and tent pegs, slowly rolling forward until the tent is completely rolled up. When packing up the tent, be careful to avoid damaging the waterproof coating at the creases caused by prolonged folding. After the tent is completely dry and folded, avoid placing other items on top of it to prevent permanent fatigue of the waterproof sealing material at the bends, which could cause it to peel off. If the weather is sunny and there is still some time before departure, do not rush to pack up immediately. Leave the tent unfolded temporarily to allow dew and other damp areas to evaporate, and empty any trash inside the tent.

The folding and packing of large tents such as emergency rescue tents requires specific steps. Preparations before folding include thorough cleaning and drying, disassembly and categorization of accessories, structural inspection, and basic repairs. For large collective disaster relief tents, teamwork is required to disassemble the frame, fold the tent fabric layer by layer, and store the frame and tent fabric simultaneously. After storage, the environment should be dry, well-ventilated, and protected from light. Labels should be affixed with usage information, and long-term storage requires periodic unfolding and inspection.
